The future of work is characterized by diverse social, technological, economic, environmental and political changes, including artificial intelligence and the automation of jobs, an aging workforce, climate change. These are expected to disrupt every industry, transform working conditions and affect the types and availability of jobs. Despite a growing discourse on the changing nature of work, there is a limited understanding of how the future of work will impact vulnerable labour market groups. In this presentation, Dr. Arif Jetha outlines nine major trends that may shape the future of work and have a specific impact on vulnerable workers.

Dr. Arif Jetha is a Scientist at the Institute for Work & Health. His program of research aims at examining how the future of work will impact vulnerable groups of workers, including young workers and people living with disabilities.

Thunder Bay Injured Workers Session: “ From life-long pensions to “deeming”: a history of worker resistance”.

Event Date:
Tuesday, February 9, 2021 - 10:00am to 12:00pm EST
Event Location:
online
This Tuesday, Orlando will lead a topic coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the Paul Weiler report, with Steve and John M. as history “discussants”:  the working title is:

“ From life-long pensions to “deeming”: a  history of worker  resistance”.

The idea is to go through the history of worker resistance over the years, with input and general discussion leading to the present. Maybe WCAR folks can add some reflections how this helps or not the current struggle.

Thunder Bay Injured Workers is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
