| I am a Fall Term Only Student. When do I need to move out of Residence? |
| The last day of the Fall Term Residence Contract is Monday, December 15, 2025. Final student move out is by 12:00pm (noon) on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. |

Spring/Summer 2025
| When does Spring-Summer 2025 housing start? |
| The dates for Spring-Summer housing are May 1, 2025 to August 10, 2025. |
| When can I apply for Spring-Summer 2025 housing? |
| Applications for Spring-Summer housing are open. Thunder Bay Orillia There is no down payment required. |
| What type of housing is available during Spring and Summer months? |
| Thunder Bay - Students will be assigned to rooms in townhouses. Room bookings will be finalized mid April and communicated to students. For students currently in the townhouses we will make every attempt to keep them in their current units. Students from Residence Halls and Apartments will be contacted by the Residence Operations Office when their townhouse room is ready for them to move into. Orillia - Students will be assigned to rooms on a designated floor for Spring/Summer Housing. |
| When do I move to my Spring/Summer townhouse? |
| Thunder Bay - Students from Residence Halls and Apartments will be contacted by the Residence Operations Office when their townhouse room is ready for them to move into - anytime between April 20th and May 10th. These students do not need to leave their current room by April 30th, 2025. Orillia - Students will be notified to move once their Spring/Summer room is clean. |
| Can I live in Bartley, Prettie or Halliday Hall during the Spring and Summer? (Thunder Bay) |
| No. As there is no meal plan available during the Spring and Summer, and, there are no cooking facilities in the Residence Halls, students cannot stay in Bartley, Prettie or Halliday Hall. |
| Can I stay past August 10th (Thunder Bay)/August 17th (Orillia) as a Spring/Summer student? |
| Yes you can stay past August 10th (Thunder Bay) / August 17th (Orillia), but only if you have a room for Fall-Winter 2025-2026. Students not registered for Fall/Winter Residence and who are moving off-campus for September must move out by August 10th (Thunder Bay) / August 17th (Orillia). |

| When can I register for 2025-2026 housing? |
| Residence registration for 2025-2026 is open. Deadline to apply is June 2, 2025. APPLY TODAY |
| How do I Register for Residence? |
| 1) Complete online application 2) High School and International - Pay your $250.00 Residence down payment. 3) Upper Year and Exchange - Applications will be reviewed middle of June. If a suitable room is available, students will be notified by email. To accept the room offer, students will be required to pay the $250.00 down payment. |
| How do I pay my $250 Residence Down Payment? |
| Pay your $250.00 Residence down payment by credit card. |
| Can I move into Residence before the start of my Housing Contract? |
| Yes. Students must submit an Early Arrival Request Form. Residence will make every attempt to have your room ready for your arrival, however, early arrivals are not guaranteed. In the event that we are unable to accommodate your Early Arrival Request, there are several hotels close to the University. |

| What are the Residence Front Desk hours of operation? |

| Is Residence open during the Winter Holiday Break? |
| The Residence Front Desk and all Residence Office will be closed during the University's holiday closure in December. |
| I will be arriving to check-in when the Residence Front Desk is closed. Will I still be able to check in? |
| Yes, a check-in information email will be sent to you before your arrival which includes instructions on how to check-in after hours. |
| What is my mailing address? |

| When can I pick up my mail? |
| You will be sent an email from resmail@lakeheadu.ca (Thunder Bay) / orilliaresidence@lakeheadu.ca (Orillia) once your mail is ready for you to pick up at the Residence Front Desk. We receive a lot of parcels and letter mail each day and it takes a bit of time to process it and send notifications to students. |
| Can I send parcels through the Front Desk? |
| For outgoing packages, parcels or other special mailing requirements, students can call a courier or Canada Post for the nearest shipping facility. |
| How can I return a Canada Post parcel? |
| The company that you ordered the item from will provide you with a return label, or you will need to go online to the Canada Post website and pay for the shipping of the parcel. |
| How do I connect to the Wi-Fi? |
| Use your Lakehead username and password (the same one that you use for myInfo and your Lakehead email). |
| How do I have food delivered to me? |
| If you order delivery from Instacart, SkipTheDishes, etc please have couriers deliver to your door if possible. If they cannot find you, please have your deliver dropped off to the Bartley Residence main entrance and you can pick it up there. | Is there storage on campus for the summer months? |
| No, Residence does not have storage facilities on campus. |
| Can I have overnight guests? |
| Yes. As per the Residence Community Standards, students may host a maximum of two (2) overnight guests per night for no more than three (3) consecutive nights in a week. In order to accommodate overnight guests staying for longer than one (1) night, communication must occur between all apartment/townhouse roommates (Thunder Bay) and canmates (Orillia). Residence Halls students must communicate overnight guests staying longer than two (2) nights with their Residence Assistant. Guests are the responsibility of the student hosting them. In general, respect for the shared living space and courtesy for all roommates/canmates must be considered before bringing an overnight guest into Residence. Note: Overnight guests are not allowed during Orientation Week and the December and April Study and Exam Periods. |
| Can I order an extra set of beds and linens for guests? (Thunder Bay) |
| Yes, you can submit an online Work Order and make a cot and linens request. |
| Am I able to change my room during the academic year? |
| Yes, room changes can be requested and must be arranged with a Residence Area Coordinator. |
| Is parking available in Residence? |
| Yes, to gain access to parking in residence you must purchase a parking permit from Security Services. Click here for parking and permit information. |
| Do you offer housing for families? |
| No. Lakehead University Residence does not offer family housing. |
