Winter Payment FAQ

All remaining account balances for the 2024-25 Fall/Winter academic year, as well as new balances for incoming Winter students, should be paid in full by Dec 15, 2024. A late payment fee of $105 will apply as of: December 16, 2024.

OSAP

 Q1. My OSAP covers my FULL remaining balance - Do I have to make a payment by December 15?

A1. NO. Please do not make a payment. Your payment is automatically deferred until the OSAP Funding is released to Lakehead in January 2025. If you received a payment reminder email, you may disregard this.

Q2. My OSAP only covers a portion of my remaining balance - What do I pay for Dec 15?

A2. Login to myInfo and under My Financial Profile, find "My Fees & Funding". The BALANCE in the Winter 2025 column is the amount to pay for December 15.

Out-of-Province Student Aid
 

Q1. My Out-of-Province Student Aid covers my FULL remaining balance - Do I have to make a payment by December 15?

Have you officially deferred your payment until your funds are available? This requires emailing accounts@lakeheadu.ca with your Notice of Assessment (NOA). If you have sent your NOA for the full year in September, you do not need to do it a second time.

A1. Yes, I've sent my NOA to Accounts: - Please DO NOT make a payment. Your payment will be deferred until your Out-of-Province Funding is released to Lakehead in January 2025.

A2.No, I have not sent my NOA to Accounts: - Please email your Notice of Assessment to defer your payment: accounts@lakeheadu.ca

Q2. My Out-of-Province Student Aid only covers a PORTION of my remaining balance - What do I pay for Dec 15?

A2. Please pay the difference by Dec 15 and make sure to send your Notice of Assessment to accounts@lakeheadu.ca by Dec 15 as well (if you have not already done so).

Scholarships, Bursaries, or Awards

Q1. My Scholarships, Bursaries, or Awards cover my FULL balance - Do I have to make a payment by Dec 15?

A1. No. Please do not make a payment

Q2. My Scholarships, Bursaries, or Awards only cover a PORTION of my balance - Do I have to make a payment by Dec 15?

A2. Yes. Please pay the difference. The My Fees & Funding form in myInfo may assist you (find My Financial Profile). The balance in the Winter 2025 column is the difference to pay.

 

Online Banking

Q. How do I pay by Online Banking?

A. Set up Lakehead University as a bill in the “Pay a Bill” section of your Financial Institutions Online Banking website. Use Lakehead University as the payee name and your 7-digit Student ID number as the Account Number.

Interac e-Transfer

Q. How can I pay with Interac e-Transfer?

Credit Card OR Pre-Authorized Debit

Q. How do I pay by Credit Card or by Pre-Authorized Debit?

A 1. Credit Card: Log in to myInfo and under "My Financial Profile", select "Make A Payment". Then select: "Make a payment by Credit Card (via PayPath Service - 2.65% service fee applies to Credit Card Payments)

A 2. Pre-Authroized Debit: Login myInfo and under "My Financial Profile", select "Make A Payment". Then select: "Make a payment by Pre-Authorized Debit"

International Payments

Q1. How do I send payment to Lakehead University from abroad?

A1. PayMyTuition: With PayMyTuition, international students can make tuition payments from any bank, in any country in any currency at better-than-bank exchange rates. Pay now with PayMyTuition (click here)

A1.2 Convera: Convera (formerly Western Union/Global Pay) is a fast, low cost, and reliable service. It allows you to pay in your local currency using a range of online payment options or a bank transfer. Pay now with Convera (click here)

Q2. Where is the payment that I have already sent?

A2. A confirmation email will be sent to your Lakehead email address once we receive your funds in our bank. Students are encouraged to check "My Statement of Account" under the "My Financial Profile" menu of myInfo. Here you may also print a copy of your Statement.

Sponsored Students
 

Q. I am sponsored by my Band or Government - why am I receiving an email asking for payment?

A i). We may not have a Sponsorship Letter on file.

It is the student's responsibility to ensure that their sponsor has submitted a Letter of Authorization to Invoice (Sponsorship Letter) by the payment due date. 

Or..

A ii). Your Sponsor may not cover all fees on your student account.

Fees not covered by your Sponsor are expected to be paid by the student on or before the payment due date. This may include, but is not limited to, the LUSU Health and Dental Plan. 


Please note that students may check their account balance on myInfo at any time to confirm their sponsor letters and payments have been received.

Graduate Students

Q1. I am paying with Payroll Deduction from my Graduate Assistantship - Do I have to pay by December 15?

A1. If you have allocated your graduate assistantship and/or award funding to pay term fees, and they will cover your full fees by April, a payment is not required at this time.

Q2. My Scholarships, Bursaries, or Awards are enough to pay my Winter Term fees - Do I have to pay by December 15?

A2. If your scholarships, bursaries, and/or awards are enough to pay your Winter term fees, no payment is required at this time. If there is an excess of Winter funding it will be refunded to you.

Q3. I am paying my Graduate Term fees with OSAP - Do I have to pay by December 15?

A3. If you are receiving OSAP which covers your entire Winter term fee, no payment is required.

However, if you do not have enough OSAP funding, the difference is due by December 15th, 2023. Please visit your My Fees & Funding form which is located under "My Financial Profile" in myInfo.

Q4. I am paying my fees from my own resources - Do I have to pay by December 15?

A4. Yes. If you do not have any type of graduate funding, please pay your Winter Term fees by December 15th, 2024.
