Mandatory Health Insurance

University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP)

Every International student registered in an academic program must be enrolled in the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP). There is a fee for this insurance plan which will be automatically billed to your student account upon registration and is due with your first installment. All charges and payments processed to a student account can be viewed on the Statement of Account available online through myInfo.

The UHIP fee for a single student attending the 2025-26 year is $792.00.

If you have traveled to Canada with a spouse and/or children, they are required to have UHIP. Please www.uhip.ca for more details. *PLEASE NOTE, if you register your child or spouse late, you may be billed a late enrollment fee of $500.00.

Most of the Health Clinics in Thunder Bay and in Canada will accept your UHIP and will directly charge to your insurance. However, in some cases you may be required to pay upfront, and then fill out a UHIP Claim Form to get a reimbursement of your amount. Please refer to the UHIP website for more information.
