Fees:
We utilize a fee-for-service model. This means clinic users pay for their service. However, our fees are significantly lower than those for private psychological services. Some of our services are offered as a package including those for psychological assessment.
Service Coverage:
Although psychological services at the Lakehead University Psychology Clinic are not covered by provincial health plans (OHIP), they may be covered by supplemental insurance health plans. We do not invoice insurance directly. Clients pay for services directly and we provide a receipt clients submit to their insurance company for reimbursement. It is important client's check with their insurance if the Clinic's services are covered.
Confidentiality:
All client information is private and kept in secure files at the clinic. Only the people who directly work with the client can access these files. Sometimes, during our training, we might discuss client cases with other students, but our supervisor, who is a registered psychologist, will always be there. We won’t share any information that could identify you.
We need your permission if we want to share or receive any of your personal health information with someone other than your therapist and the supervising psychologist. Sometimes, there are certain situations when the law or our regulatory body’s rules say we must break confidentiality to keep the client or others safe. Before your appointment, your therapist will tell you about these limits on keeping things private, and they can review this with you at any time at your request.
