Gaining Ethical Approval for Research in Education

We require that all research in Education conform to the highest ethical standards. Lakehead University's Research Ethics Board (REB) must review and approve all research that involves human participation. All Lakehead faculty, staff, and students who plan to conduct research with human participants must gain REB approval.

For more information about the REB along with the Ethics approval process, please see our Ethics and Research Integrity page.

How to Obtain Ethical Approval for Educational Research

To gain ethical approval for your research, you must submit a Research Ethics Board Researcher's Agreement Form to the REB using the Romeo Research Portal. To access the Romeo Research Portal, click the following link:

When completing your REB Agreement Form, you must provide sufficient detail to show that you adhere to the core principles of the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS 2); these principals ensure the respect for persons, concern for welfare, and justice. Once you complete your application, the REB will review it and either recommend revisions or approve your application.
