Message from the President

I'm proud to celebrate through this Annual Report the efforts and commitment of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends who are truly Champions of Change.

These Champions, who include many who are reading my very words now, are helping to build a better future for the many communities that Lakehead serves.

Lakehead’s 2021-2022 Annual Report brings to the forefront how the University is leading innovation and growing partnerships to create a more resilient, healthy, sustainable, and equitable world. The past couple of years have pushed all postsecondary institutions beyond previous comfort levels and forced us to revisit how we teach each other, learn from one another, and work together.

In this year’s report, we celebrate the accomplishments of the 2021-22 academic year and the early days of the 2022-23 academic year, including being named the highest-ranked university in the world with fewer than 10,000 students according to Times Higher Education’s Impact Rankings.

That acknowledgement recognizes Lakehead’s achievements in meeting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals—an initiative that requires cross-sector collaboration and is dependent on a collective working together to foster solutions through the sharing of resources, knowledge, and expertise. This can only be realized through the development of innovative partnerships to advance solutions to global challenges.

I invite you to explore the online 2021-2022 Annual Report to the Community to learn how Lakehead University’s Champions of Change have played a key role in building a better world.
