Terms & Conditions
1) Eligibility:
You must be a non-Canadian Citizen who has not previously studied in Canada and has not commenced studies at Lakehead University. You must have a valid Letter of Admission for Fall 2025 entry into an undergraduate or gradaute program. You must arrive at Lakehead University at our Thunder Bay or Orillia campus , enrol as a full-time student in Fall/Winter 2025/26 courses. If the winning student must complete Academic English Program upgrading prior to commencing their full-time undergraduate or graduate studies, the scholarship will be awarded at the start of the term they commence full-time undergraduate studies.
Those who are not eligible are: (i) employees, officers, directors, representatives, and agents of Lakehead University, its respective advertising and promotion agencies and their family members, or any of the respective affiliates, related entities, successors or assigns or (ii) people living with or who are immediate family of any of the above (as determined by Lakehead in its sole discretion).
2) How to Participate:
By completing the online form, you will automatically be assessed for eligibility and considered if deemed eligible.
3) Notification of Selected Scholarship Recipient & How to Redeem:
We will select the Lakehead University Visionary Scholarship 2025 recipient on June 27, 2025. The scholarship will be applied as a $5,000 CAD credit on the recipient's student account prior to the start of their first semester.
If you are a potential recipient you will be notified by email or telephone, according to the contact information you provided upon registration. The Email notification is not final confirmation that you have been awarded the Visionary Scholarship. Lakehead University may declare the redemption for a particular item invalid if, in the sole opinion of Lakehead University, these terms & conditions have been breached in any way.
Being awarded the Visionary Scholarship does not in any way guarantee acceptance for enrolment at Lakehead University. Selected recipient is subject to all Lakehead University admission requirements, must receive an unconditional Letter of Acceptance, must enrol as a full-time student and begin studies at Lakehead before receiving the scholarship.
The Visionary Scholarship is non-transferable.
4) Contact Information:
The contact information, which you enter upon application for the Visionary Scholarship, is the information Lakehead University will use to notify you if you are the successful recipient. If any of your contact information or if your email address changes, it is your responsibility to notify us of your new information by contacting the Lakehead University International at welcome@lakeheadu.ca or by phoning (807) 346-7859.
5) Additional Regulations:
You are prohibited from using any method, mechanism, device, or software to affect the proper functioning of the Website and, should any attempt to do so be made, Lakehead University reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.
6) Privacy Policy:
By applying to the Visionary Scholarship, you agree that Lakehead University may use your name, address, comments, and likeness, in any matters related to the Scholarship, including any advertising or publicity, without compensation or further consent. Lakehead University is committed to protecting your privacy. Any personal information collected from you in the course of the scholarship application will be subject to Lakehead University's Privacy Policy. Personal information (other than your name, likeness, and comments) will be used only by Lakehead University and, except as set out in these regulations, will be disclosed only for the purpose of administering the scholarship in accordance with these terms and conditions or where required or permitted by law. Lakehead University may disclose personal information to any member of Lakehead University staff for the purpose of administering the scholarship in accordance with these terms.
During the Visionary Scholarship application process, certain personal information (such as your name, address, telephone number, email address, and date of birth) will be collected, and you may also be asked to answer a short survey. This information is collected and used by Lakehead University for the purposes of managing the application, validating applications, evaluating the success of the scholarship application, and assisting in planning for future scholarships. In addition, such information may be used by Lakehead University to evaluate the demographics and other general characteristics of prospective applicants to its programs. Finally, scholarship applicants will be automatically added to Lakehead University's International Enrolment email list for prospective students, for the purposes of allowing Lakehead University to provide further information regarding the University.
