Graduate Student Opening for 2017-2018! (All positions are filled)

Dr. Salem is currently recruiting qualified, talented and energetic students who are interested in pursuing their M.Sc. or Ph.D. Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering). Recruited students will conduct research projects as part of Dr. Salem's current research program to investigate the structural performance of various wood and steel building components and assemblies at normal and elevated temperatures. For fire resistance tests, a large-size fire-testing furnace accommodated in the new state-of-the-art Fire Testing and Research Facility at Lakehead University will be utilized.

To this end, students who are interested in pursuing their graduate study under supervision of Dr. Salem are encouraged to submit their applications to the M.Sc. (thesis-based) or Ph.D. in Civil Engineering Programs. However, potential students are encouraged to contact Dr. Salem first to discuss available research topics and projects, as well as the associated research funding available for qualified students.

Undergraduate Student Openings! (Filled)

Dr. Salem is currently recruiting qualified, talanted, and energetic undergraduate student(s) from the Civil Engineering Program, prefered in his/her fourth year, to be hired as research assistant. Recruited student(s) will assist in preparing for and conducting research experiments as part of Dr. Salem's current research project to investigate the structural performance of heavy timber frame connections at elevated temperatures. Fire resistance tests will be conducted in the new state-of-the-art Structural Fire Testing and Research Facility at Lakehead University.
