A Unique Experience

Your third year of study will be spent in a European destination at one of our partner universities. Credits taken abroad with count towards both degrees. Your courses remain in English while you experience global culture.

TYPICAL PROGRAM SCHEDULE

At the end of the International Dual Degree program, you graduate with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Lakehead University in your choice of major and a degree from the partner institution of your choice (potentially with a separate major).

Though first year courses will be the same for all students, the specific graduation requirements at Lakehead University will depend on your choice of major . A meeting with your Program Chair is essential to determine whether any adjustments are required to your Lakehead University courses.


HOW TO APPLY

Not a Lakehead University Student in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce Program yet?

Prospective students interested in this International Dual Degree program may apply through OUAC (https://www.ouac.on.ca).

Note that there are limited spots available, and admission will be competitive.

Current Lakehead University Students in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce Program
 
Rennes School of Business and Northumbria University streams
 
We are currently accepting applications to transfer to the International Dual Degree (Rennes School of Business and Northumbria University streams). To meet the minimum requirements, you must:
  • Currently be a second year student in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce program;  and
  • Successfully complete all of the first and second year requirements (including meeting the average requirements) of the Honours Bachelor of Commerce program as outlined in the University's Academic Calendar by April 2026.

This application is for the 2026/2027 exchange year. The application deadline is November 30, 2025, and you will hear about the next step of the application process after the end of the Fall 2025 semester. 

Note that there are limited spots available, and the application to transfer is competitive.

If you are interested but currently in the first year of the Honours Bachelor of Commerce program, please wait until the beginning of your second year to apply. The next round of the application will be available in September or October 2026.

Pforzheim University stream
 
We are currently accepting applications to transfer to the International Dual Degree (Pforzheim University) stream. To meet the minimum requirements, you must:
  • Currently be a first year student in Finance major or Accounting major of Honours Bachelor of Commerce program; and
  • Successfully complete all of the first and second year requirements (including meeting the average requirements) of the Honours Bachelor of Commerce program as outlined in the University's Academic Calendar by April 2027.

* Students in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting major) must take an additional year. Most other majors are possible with consultation.
** Not including living and travel expenses, repeated courses, or additional semesters needed for some students (eg. Accounting).
***Internship may be a requirement depending on the partner institution.
