PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dr. Brian J.R. Stevenson
Dr. Brian J.R. Stevenson

Lakehead University has made great progress over the past year in addressing the critical issues identified in its 2010-2013 Strategic Plan: Sustainability of the University; Comprehensiveness of the Academy; Research Growth; and Diversity.

Since becoming president and vice-chancellor of Lakehead University in August 2010, I have had the pleasure of working with many dedicated students, faculty, and staff, and it is clear to me that Lakehead is focused on a bright future. That future depends upon enhancing the strong community partnerships that the University has cultivated with organizations at the regional, national, and international levels.

Lakehead University is a comprehensive, research-intensive university, recognized nationally and internationally for excellence in teaching and learning.  Its graduates enjoy higher than average employment rates among university graduates in Ontario and are a testament to the quality of education they have received on our campuses in Orillia and Thunder Bay.

By its very presence in Northwestern and Central Ontario, Lakehead University plays a leadership role in the social, cultural, and economic health and development of our regions, and I am committed to enhancing the strategic partnerships that will lead to new opportunities for flexible, accessible, and relevant education and training.

I invite you to learn more about this remarkable institution and share the 2010-2011 Report to the Community with your friends and colleagues. More importantly, let us know how you can participate in our efforts to develop a lasting legacy for generations to come.
