Warren Hoshizaki

Warren Hoshizaki has been an educator for almost 40 years and has been the Director of Education at the District School Board of Niagara – the largest school board in the Niagara Region – for the past 12 years.  Prior to his appointment in Niagara, he was Director of Education at Rainy River DSB in Northern Ontario for five years.  Warren’s credentials as a qualified Superintendent of Education – Academic (1991) and Superintendent of Business (2011) has provided him with a unique profile for his position.

Previously Warren served as Superintendent of Education and Superintendent of Secondary Schools at Bluewater DSB where he was responsible for K-12 curriculum, Aboriginal Education and Special Education. In addition to Bluewater DSB, Warren was Superintendent of Education at Bruce County Board of Education.

Prior to becoming a Superintendent and Director Warren taught both elementary and secondary students and was Principal of two elementary schools in northern Ontario:  Dryden and Sioux Lookout.

Warren has an unbridled enthusiasm for education and a very strong commitment to supporting students, which his interests reflect:

• breaking the cycle of poverty with education
• promoting the belief that all students can learn
• creating innovative programs
• providing the opportunity for outdoor education
• inspiring leaders to be the best that they can be

Warren continuously looks for ways to enhance student learning and assist when needed and has served on many Provincial committees for the Ontario Public Supervisory Officers’ Association (OPSOA) including:

• Assessment Review Committee
• Negotiations Committee
• Executive Committee
• OFSAA Provincial Executive
• Skills Ontario Board of Directors

In addition, Warren has served as Chair of the Public Council of Ontario Directors of Education (PCODE) and Chair of the Council of Ontario Directors of Education (CODE).
