The Administrative Assistant will be accountable to Dr. Vicki Kristman, Director of the newly developing Research Institute for Enhancing Prevention of Injury & Disability (EPID) and Principal Investigator of the SSHRC Partnership Development project “Understanding labour force participation, work productivity and disability in the Indigenous context: a partnership with the Nokiiwin Tribal Council”. The administrative assistant will provide support for all activities related to these two undertakings including liaison and administrative duties.

The Administrative Assistant will assist Dr. Kristman by carrying out a wide variety of administrative and research activities. Administrative activities include, but are not limited to, budgets and administrative support, such as managing calendars, organizing meetings, preparing agendas, taking and transcribing minutes of meetings for circulation, reviewing and sorting incoming mail, reviewing and preparing credit card statements, coordinating travel (knowledge of Concur travel system is an asset), coordinating arrangements for visitors to the university, developing and updating an EPID website, ordering office supplies and consumables, preparing and coordinating work orders with Physical Plant, and assisting with office technical support requests. Research activities include assisting with the collection and processing of data. Specific activities may include identifying eligible participants, conducting interviews (telephone and face-to-face), drafting research ethics submissions, developing summaries for lay audiences, and other duties as required.

The successful incumbent is expected to demonstrate critical and analytical thinking abilities, have strong inter-personal skills, excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills, and be proficient with PC computers (Windows 10; MS Office 2016, etc). The starting date for this position is negotiable. This is a flexible, part-time or full time opportunity. The position can range from a period of 4 months to one year, with the possibility of extension, depending on funds available.
