Research Interests:

Human papillomavirus (HPV) concerns us all: worldwide, HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection in men and women. In women it is most common between the ages of 20 and 30, but in men it is equally prevalent throughout life.

There are low and high-risk HPV types. If a high-risk type persists more than one year in the host then the risk of developing certain types of cancer (e.g. head and neck, cervical, and anal cancer) can increase up to 100-fold.

The research of my group focuses on reasons of viral persistence, non-invasive treatment options learning from the human body's own molecular systems and prevention of cancer. We use state of the art molecular & cell biology methods as well as high throughput data analyses in a patient-centered health approach.
