Previous Teaching/Work: 

David Blaikie was admitted to the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society in 1993, and practiced civil litigation with the law firm of Patterson Palmer (now Patterson Law) in Truro, Nova Scotia. He has developed and taught courses in law at the University of Sherbrooke, Québec, Hue University, Vietnam, Dalhousie University and the Atlantic School of Theology, both in Nova Scotia.  He teaches in the areas of evidence, torts, civil procedure, professional responsibility and alternative dispute resolution.

David is a co-author or editor of four books, most recently Why Good Lawyers Matter (with The Honourable Thomas A. Cromwell and Darrel Pink, eds., Irwin Law), and Halsbury’s Laws of Canada, The Law of Damages  (with Samantha Orr, LexisNexis). He is also a founder and an editor of The Journal of Arbitration and Mediation  (Carswell).

 

David is chair of the law school's curriculum committee.  He is a board director of the Johnson Scholarship Foundation (West Palm Beach), a past director of the St. Andrew's Soup Kitchen (Thunder Bay), and a past director and board chair of the Colchester Residential Services Society (Truro).
