Eligibility Criteria for Services

PLEASE NOTE: Opting out of the LUSU Health & Dental Plan does not impact your access to services from the Student Health and Counselling Centre; they are different fees/plans for different services.

Health Services and the Medical Clinic

Thunder Bay Campus

Students* currently taking a course/courses on the Thunder Bay campus and who have been charged the ancillary Health Services Support Fee on their student account (see the undergraduate and graduate 2019-2020 fees here) are eligible to access medical services for the term the course(s) run (e.g. Fall 2019, Fall/Winter 2019).

If you have questions about your eligibility, please contact the Student Health & Counselling Centre at 343-8361 or visit the Centre in person.

If you have a family physician in Thunder Bay, you are encouraged to continue seeing him/her as this will support continuity of care.

Orillia Campus

Undergraduate or graduate students* currently taking a course/courses on the Orillia campus are eligible to access the Naturopath Doctor or Nurse Practitioner at the Centre for the term(s) enrolled.

If you have questions about your eligibility, please contact the Wellness Centre by calling (705) 330-4008 ext. 2115/2116 or visit the Wellness Centre in person in OR 1015/OR 1017 on the first floor of residence.

If you have a family physician in Orillia you are encouraged to continue seeing him/her as this will support continuity of care.

Counselling Services

Thunder Bay Campus

Undergraduate or graduate students* currently taking a course/courses on the Thunder Bay campus are eligible to access the counselling services at the Centre for the term(s) enrolled.

Orillia Campus

Undergraduate or graduate students* currently taking a course/courses on the Orillia campus are eligible to access the Personal Counselling services at the Wellness Centre for the term(s) enrolled.

Health Insurance

Medical Appointments

Proof of current provincial or international health plan coverage is required each and every time you visit the Centre for a medical appointment with a doctor, nurse(TB), or nurse practitioner(OR) (or any other health care facility, barring emergencies). Counselling appointments are covered by student fees and do not require health plan coverage.
