Lakehead announces book launch for student’s book of poetry

Jessica Dawson

Jessica Dawson, Lakehead Orillia student, recently published a book of poetry inspired by her studies at Lakehead.

February 1, 2016 – Orillia, ON

Lakehead student Jessica Dawson, in her third year of the Honours Bachelor of Arts & Science/Bachelor of Education program, has recently published a book of poetry that was inspired by her studies at Lakehead Orillia.

Her book, “Little Nothings,” is a chapbook – a short, condensed book – of personal reflections written with an interdisciplinary perspective. Dawson is studying Interdisciplinary Studies, English, and Education at Lakehead University and she says the emphasis on critical analysis in many of her courses is what provided inspiration for her writing.

Dawson will launch the newly published book with a book-signing event on Saturday, February 6 at Manticore Books, 103 Mississaga Street East, in downtown Orillia.

This is an opportunity for students and members of the community to meet Jessica and learn about her poetry. The event is presented by Lakehead University, the Lakehead University Student Union, and Manticore Books. Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be available.
