The federal election result will be discussed at Lakehead University

October 19, 2015 – Thunder Bay and Orillia, ON

Lakehead University’s Department of Political Science is hosting an hour-long discussion on the federal election result on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 1 pm in ATAC 3004 and OA 3041.

The discussion will be chaired by Ken Boshcoff, mayor of Thunder Bay from 1997 to 2003 and former Member of Parliament, who is a distinguished alumnus of the department.

Dr. Normand Perreault and Dr. Laure Paquette, who are both specialists in Canadian politics and political strategy, will participate in the discussion.

Dr. Perreault will discuss the fragmentation of the electorate along regional, gender, age, and rural-urban lines. His comments will attempt to identify who voted for whom, and why.  Dr. Paquette will discuss the campaign strategies used by the four major parties.

This discussion is open to the public.

Dr. Perreault's research focuses on political corruption as it relates to public policy and democratic governance in Canada and in Eastern Europe.

Dr. Paquette is the author of Campaign Strategy (New York: Nova) and microblogs on politics at twitter/lpaquett.

The participants will be available for media interviews from 2 to 2:15 pm.
