RESIDENCE CHECK-IN 2021-2022

STARTS THURSDAY, September 2, 2021

Residence Check-In begins at 9:00am on Thursday, September 2, 2021.  Early arrivals will only be permitted with the authorization of the Residence Administration Office.  ALL approved early arrivals will be assessed applicable room and/or board charges. 

To avoid the disappointment of being turned away, please do not plan to arrive before Thursday, September 2, 2021 unless pre-booked.

When Can I Move In?

WHEN CAN I MOVE IN?

CHECK IN HOURS:

Move-in will take place from 9:00am to 1:00pm and your move-in time slot will depend on the first letter of your last name:

A-M : 9:00am to 11:00am

N-Z :  11:00am to 1:00pm

We ask that you move in during your assigned move-in time slot.  If the time slot you have been assigned will not work for you because of the distance you will be traveling, please notify Bernadette Pickles, Residence Administrator before September 1, 2021 to request an alternate move-in time (bpickles@lakeheadu.ca).

Monday to Friday - 8:00am to 12:00am

Saturday & Sunday - 10:00am - 12:00am

Where Does Check-In Take Place?

WHERE DOES CHECK-IN TAKE PLACE?

Check in at the “Welcome Station in the Parking Lot on September 2nd where you will be given further direction.  Once you are given permission to start to move-in all students will check-in at the Residence Front Desk.

HOW DO I FIND LAKEHEAD UNIVERSITY

If you are driving...

Create and print a customized map and directions to campus using the following map as a starting point.

If you are flying...

If you are flying to Pearson Airport, it is best to take a Simcoe County Airport Shuttle to the University. Ask the shuttle driver to take you to 500 University Avenue. 

How Do I Check In?

HOW DO I CHECK IN?

1) First things first...

Once inside Residence you will be able to pick up your keys.  You will need to show photo identification when you arrive.

After signing for your keys you will be given directions to your residence room.

You are free to move in!  Please follow staff instructions for unloading your vehicle.

2) Students with Vehicles...

All vehicles parked at Lakehead University (including Residence) must display a valid parking permit or daily parking pass.  Click here for parking and permit information. 

Students with vehicles are required to register their vehicle information with the Residence Front Desk.  Please have licence plate number, colour and make of vehicle information ready at time of check-in.

3) What about my bicycle?

Bicycles may be parked in the covered bicycle shelter directly behind the residence.

When You Get to Your Room

WHEN YOU GET TO YOUR ROOM

Room Inventory Form

All students are required to fill in a room inventory form when they check in.  The purpose of this form is to ensure that the student is not held responsible for any defects present in the room prior to occupancy.  Your Resident Assistant can assist you in completing the room inventory form.

Please note that any damage beyond normal wear and tear in the room will be charged to you after checking out.

All Residence students are required to have a Lakehead University Student ID Photo ID card. The Photo ID card is also your meal card.  All students are required to show their Photo ID card when picking up parcels, other deliveries, signing out items from the Residence Front Desk and for Security reasons.
