Abstract

An ethos of science seeks to explain the nature and behavior of phenomena in the physical and natural world. This talk explores the growing utilization of fuzzy logic as a contributor to an ethos of using machines worldwide. Indeed, such an ethos is representative of global societal practices and values, as evidenced particularly within industrialized countries. Why consider fuzzy logic? In part because such appears to be increasingly integrated into our daily lives. From being programmed into modern appliances to being used for such purposes as robotics and other artificial intelligence (AI) applications. Further, fuzzy logic will be presented as a way of thinking and doing that mirrors the mind-set of Leonardo da Vinci, who concluded: “everything connects to everything else.”
