Master of Public Health with Specialization in Nursing

Master of Public Health with Specialization in Gerontology program may be completed through Distance Education on a Flexible full-time or Full-time basis. Those wishing to complete the Master of Public Health program on-campus may apply to the full-time on-campus program. 

Specializations in the MPH and MHSc programs include a defined collection of courses taken from specific areas of study that complement the overall degree requirements. Note: The Specialization will be referenced on the transcript.

Specialization Requirements

All students in the Master of Public Health program with Specialization in Nursing must complete a total of 7 full course equivalents (FCEs), of which 3.5 FCEs are required courses, 2.0 FCEs are elective courses, and 1.5 FCEs consist of a 400-hour Practicum. These are fully described in the Academic Calendar.

Students in the Specialization in Nursing must take two specific courses (0.5 FCE each for a total of 1.0 FCE) as electives (HESC 5017: Nursing Philosophy/Theory and HESC 5216: Nursing Leadership) and complete their 400-hour Practicum in an area related to Nursing.
