The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is a competitive initiative for international undergraduates from Australia, Brazil, China, France, India, Germany, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and Ukraine. From May to October of each year, top-ranked applicants participate in a 12-week research internship under the supervision of Canadian university faculty members in a variety of academic disciplines, from science, engineering and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences. Mitacs covers intern expenses (travel costs, health insurance, stipend, fees).

At this time, the Mitacs GRI is accepting faculty submissions for the Summer of 2019.
  • All disciplines are eligible
  • Faculty can submit multiple projects and re-submit projects from previous years
  • Students apply to projects through Mitacs, where they select their preferred projects, and Mitacs manages the competition and matching process.

2.  Internal Deadline for Submitting Research Projects for Internal Review

The Mitacs deadline for submitting project proposals is June 13, 2018, at 4 p.m. PDT.  However, since this is a very competitive program, Lakehead University faculty members are strongly encouraged to write their project summaries in lay terms and to highlight the unique advantages to participating in an internship at Lakehead.  The Office of Research Services invites Faculty to submit projects to the Office of Research Services (intl.research@lakeheadu.ca) for internal review no later than June 6, 2018.

3.  Suggested Lakehead University Promotional Wording
