Lakehead is committed to fostering community-based research in Northern Ontario and Simcoe County with community organizations and Indigenous communities.

As a community or not-for-profit organization, you have many opportunities to collaborate with Lakehead researchers through existing funding options. Such partnerships can be valuable in:

• Offering new insights on key issues
• Building strong networks
• Providing direct benefits to communities
• Furthering social justice at large
• Advancing respect for Indigenous worldviews and knowledge

Representatives of communities, agencies, corporations and associations can contact us if they would like to:

• discuss specific research ideas and goals that need some assistance from a researcher at Lakehead University
• participate in networking events for community members to meet with researchers
• learn about grant opportunities that promote partnerships with Lakehead University
• invite researchers or research facilitators to specific events

Research facilitators carefully listen to the needs and goals of community members and use their expertise and networks to facilitate relationship-building, project team creation and implementation, and grant application support.
