Event Location:
Online

A new school year and perhaps a new campus can wreak havoc with our routine. The It's Your Move Team (a.k.a. Lakehead Student Health and Wellness, Athletics and Campus Recreation) wants to help you make exercise a priority by challenging you to meet the Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines recommendation of getting 150 minutes a week of moderate to vigorous physical activity for 6 weeks! The challenge begins on September 26 and wraps up on November 6.

You log your activities into our Strava group and we will provide updates, encouragement and resources to help you hit your goals so you can connect and cheer on your fellow Thunderwolves.

This program is open to current students, incoming students, staff, faculty, and alumni from either Campus. All participants will be entered into a prize draw with the winner announced after the challenge is complete.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:

  1. Sign up and accept the invitation to the I'ts Your Move LU Strava Group
  2. Log your activities into Strava either manually or by syncing your fitness tracker or smartwatch
  3. We track your progress and post updates in the group.
  4. Get moving!

FAQ

Q: Do I need a Strava Account?

A: Yes, in order to fully participate in the community aspect of It's Your Move, a Strava Account is necessary. You can create a free Strava Account here: https://www.strava.com/register/free.

Please note it is not necessary to purchase any of the subscriptions associated with Strava to participate in Wolves on the Move

Q: Do I need to use my phone or a GPS Tracking Device?

A: No! A GPS Tracker is not necessary to participate, as you can manually input your runs onto Strava using these instructions if you prefer to run without a GPS tracker or phone.

Q: What kind of activities can I upload to Strava?

If you are using the Strava mobile app to record an activity, you'll notice that the list of activity type options isn't a comprehensive list of all available activity types supported on Strava. At this time, the Strava mobile app cannot record indoor or stationary activities so activity types that aren't typically GPS-based are excluded from the list.

If you do not see the outdoor activity type you'd like to record, you can always record using one of the currently listed sport types and edit the activity type after uploading. Lastly, you can always upload a manual entry and select any sport types from the list of currently supported activity types.

Once any activity is uploaded or synced to Strava, you can edit the activity to change the sport type to any of the following options:

  • Ride
  • Run
  • Swim
  • Walk
  • Hike
  • Alpine Ski
  • Backcountry Ski
  • Canoe
  • Crossfit
  • E-Bike Ride
