INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
  At Lakehead, we welcome students from over 80 different countries. Lakehead University International offers a number of specialized services and supports to help you throughout your studies as well as during your transition to Canada, such as: study permit assistance, free airport pick-up services, English Language Program, on-campus IELTS testing centre, UHIP – University Health Insurance Program, homestay, and social & cultural activities.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND DEADLINES FOR INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS
The firm deadline to receive complete applications is May 15th. Our minimum admission requirement for international applicants is 75% or 3.0 on a 4 point Canadian scale, with an accredited university degree equivalent to a Lakehead University 4 year degree. We advise all international students to apply early, as admission into our programs is competitive. Should you wish to apply to a thesis program, we strongly advise you to contact a potential supervisor, and have your proof of English language proficiency complete.
At this time, we do not pre-assess qualifications.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION
Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate they can cope with the language demands
of an English language university. Applicants to graduate programs may meet our English language requirements if they have successfully completed 3 years of full-time, post- secondary study in English.
Applicants whose native language is not English, and who cannot verify having recently studied in an English language post-secondary system for more than three years of full-time study, will be required to present proof of English language proficiency as follows:
550 (no component score less than 50)
80 (no component score less than 19)

Some academic units may require a higher score and meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to Lakehead University.
