SOCIAL SCIENCES & HUMANITIES
Our graduates are entrepreneurial, creative and highly adaptable to new and ever-changing workplace environments, possessing essential skills and knowledge sought after by employers, particularly in the area of critical thinking and advanced communication and research. Your Lakehead University education will prepare you for a wide range of career choices.
MASTER OF ARTS IN ENGLISH (MA)
Our MA program offers students the opportunity to pursue their scholarly interests in the way that best suits them. We offer a number of different program options: the traditional coursework option that provides students with coverage of many fields and the experience of working with a greater number of professors; a combined coursework and thesis option for those students who want the experience of writing an in-depth study on their topic of choice; a coursework and research-project option that allows students to pursue a shorter study on their topic of choice. We also offer a coursework plus creative-project option, which allows students to write a creative work, while still engaging in critical analysis of the genre and form in which they are writing.
In addition, we offer the unique option of pursuing an MA in English with either a Specialization in Women’s Studies or, beginning in Fall 2020, a new Specialization in Social Justice Studies.
