BIOREFINING RESEARCH INSTITUTE (BRI)
BRI creates novel research and development opportunities, new technology models and jobs, and value-added products from renewable resources that ultimately lead to reduced dependence on fossil fuels and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

The primary purpose of the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research (CIER) is to promote and support research on innovation and entrepreneurship at Lakehead University.

CENTRE FOR NORTHERN STUDIES (CNS)
Established in the late 1980s, the Centre for Northern Studies has directly contributed, through its academic program, speaker series, grants, publications, international student exchanges, and research projects, to the university’s national and international reputation as
one of the main centres for Northern Studies in Canada and indeed the entire Circumpolar North. CNS was created by a partnership of regional and academic representatives to help ensure that Lakehead University is able to respond to the needs of our regions.
