Course objectives:

In celebration of the International Polar Year (2007), this course will develop an understanding and appreciation of the cultural and natural heritage of Northern Ontario through traditional pedagogical in-class methods and on-site applications. Aboriginal and regional tourism initiatives, protected areas management, and issues in outdoor recreation will be examined as the course travels throughout Northwestern and Northeastern Ontario. The final destinations will be the community of Moosonee and Moose Factory First Nation, on the shores of the Moose River.
