Adobe Creative Cloud is a set of applications and services from Adobe Systems that gives subscribers access to a collection of software used for graphic design, video editing, web development, photography, along with a set of mobile applications and also some optional cloud services. Includes: Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Dreamweaver, InDesign, Distiller, Premiere and Flash Builder. Please note: Adobe Creative Cloud is currently only available to students currently enrolled in the Media Studies program and are currently in the Lakehead Adobe portal. Lakehead University does NOT have a site license for any Adobe product.
Lakehead University has partnered with AppArmor to give students, faculty and staff a faster way to access resources on campus. This MobileSafety app includes emergency contacts, a safety toolbox, and other important resources available at the touch of a button. Users can easily access Lakehead's walk-safe program, contact security if needed, and use tools that can help in an emergency. You’ll also receive important security information and alerts in real time direct to your device via push technology.
ArcGIS is a geographic information system (GIS) for working with maps and geographic information. It is used for creating and using maps, compiling geographic data, analyzing mapped information, sharing and discovering geographic information, using maps and geographic information in a range of applications, and managing geographic information in a database. The system provides an infrastructure for making maps and geographic information available throughout an organization, across a community, and openly on the Web.
The Multimedia Services Unit of the Technology Services Centre configures and manages all Audio Conferencing Services on Campus. There are a variety of configurations including Toll Free Based Conferences and Toll Based Conferences.

BrightSpace Assignment Grader from D2L is a mobile app marking tool that allows access to assignments submitted on myCourseLink from an iPad or Android tablet. Features include ability to work offline and audio/video student feedback.
Lakehead University has a single-sign on authentication system. Users have a single username and password for most systems on campus including myEmail, myInfo (WebAdvisor), myCourseLink, Library Proxy, wireless network and Active Directory (computer labs and workstations).
The TSC is responsible for computer classrooms on campus and the staff and servers that support them. The type and location of the computing and storage resources available changes from year to year as new systems are introduced.

Eduroam at Lakehead University allows Students, Staff, and Faculty to access wireless networks with their user@lakeheadu.ca credentials when visiting other participating institutions. It also will allow Students, Staff or Faculty visiting Lakehead University from participating institutions to access wireless here on campus using the eduroam network without needing a guest account.

ePortfolio is a personal portfolio tool within mycourselink (BrightSpace) for storing, organizing, reflecting on, and sharing items that represent your learning. You can include documents, graphics, audio files, videos, presentations, course work, etc. that demonstrate your improvement or mastery in a certain area. You decide what items you want to include in your ePortfolio, how you want to organize them, and who you want to share them with.

The university’s immersive telepresence classrooms provide a high quality, alternative option for running classes, meetings and events over video. The classrooms’ HD video, audio and content sharing capabilities enable instructors, staff and students to interact between two or more locations more naturally and effectively than traditional video conferencing. There is an immersive telepresence classroom located on each campus, one in the Advanced Technology & Academic Centre (AT 5041) in Thunder Bay and the other in Simcoe Hall (OA 2020) at Orillia. The Thunder Bay room can accommodate 28 people and the Orillia room 18 people.

Active Directory, or AD, is a Microsoft product that allows for Windows domain management including current Windows Operating systems. It manages and authorizes users and computers on the domain as well as checks and enforces security restrictions, access and protocols. This allows TSC to centrally manage and support workstations more efficiently and effectively.

mycourselink (Brightspace by Desire2Learn) is the learning management system that instructors at Lakehead University use for online courses, online content, and blending-learning classes.
TSC has partnered with Internet search giant Google to provide web-based email communication.  With “anywhere in the world” access, and a lifetime account, myemail.lakeheadu.ca is a vital tool for the Lakehead University community.  In addition, you will have access to Google Calendar, Google Drive and many other powerful Google products and tools.
Lakehead’s online self-service information portal where students can perform a variety of functions such as applying for scholarships and bursaries, registering for and changing classes, viewing course schedules, paying account balances, tracking degree/program progress, and more. Many services for faculty and staff are also available through myInfo.
MySuccess is an online portal that allows students to access extra curricular activities such as view upcoming events, workshops, seminars and volunteer opportunities, search for available on and off campus jobs, upload your resume directly online, save interesting job postings, and track jobs applied for, book appointments with the Student Success Centre and Academic Support Zone, find information related to the EXCEL Leadership Certificate Program, and access one's Co-Curricular Record (CCR).

With advanced data management, query and visualization tools, NVivo lets you ask complex questions of your data so you can discover more. This is available to Grad Students and Faculty only on a Lakehead owned asset.
Lakehead University is providing Microsoft Office 365 to all staff and students. This means the latest version of the full Office productivity suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and more available for offline and online use to best prepare you for class or office work. As long as you’re an active student or staff at Lakehead (excludes Alumni), you’ll be able to access this software.

An online portal to purchase a parking permit, pay any and all outstanding parking/locker fees or fines, appeal a parking ticket(s), or rent a locker on campus.
Printing & Mail Services, located in Office RB0001 (Basement Level, Ryan Building), is able to print large format posters. We recommend using Microsoft Power Point or Publisher to create your poster as these programs will allow large page sizes. Posters should be submitted no later than 48 hours before they are needed.
TSC has a number of Xerox multi-function systems available throughout our campuses. These systems offer printing in monochrome or colour(only certain models), paper available is Letter(8.5"x11"), Legal(11"x14") and Tabloid(14"x17") scanning, and photocopying.

SPSS is the acronym of Statistical Package for the Social Science. SPSS is one of the most popular statistical packages which can perform highly complex data manipulation and analysis with simple instructions.
Honeywell’s UniSim® Design Suite is an intuitive process modeling software that helps engineers create steady-state and dynamic models for plant design, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, business planning, and asset management.
Video Assignments, a myCourseLink tool, allows for the practice and assessment of soft skills such as communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. Some features include the creation of video presentations, self-assessment prior to submission, mock interviews, oral quizzes and the submission of video responses.
VPN or Virtual Private Network allows you to connect from outside our network, create a secure encrypted connection and access internal resources as if you were connected locally, on campus. This access includes file shares, printers and internet traffic. Once your work is complete, you can simply disconnect the client to end your sessions.
Technology Services Center provides Virtual Machines (VM) for Faculty and Staff, based on the VMware vSphere Virtual Infrastructure. These servers are offered with Windows, Cent OS, or with other operating systems (OS), upon request. Any software or licensing costs are the responsibility of the requester. The virtual servers are located within TSC’s Data Centers.

Windows is a Computer Operating System from Microsoft which is widely used on campus. The most current version in use is Windows 10, this is installed on all PC lab computers and PC walk up computing stations.
