CCS Awards for Excellence in Cancer Research - Call for Nominations

How to Apply: 

Since 1993, the Canadian Cancer Society has recognized individuals who have made, and are making, valuable contributions to the cancer research ecosystem in Canada through our Awards for Excellence in Cancer Research.

 

We are pleased to launch the 2021 Awards for Excellence in Cancer Research nomination process. To see the 2020 winners of these awards, please visit our webpage.

 

The nomination deadline is Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 5pm ET.

 

The Canadian Cancer Society Inclusive Excellence Prize

This award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated leadership in the advancement of equity, diversity and inclusion as it relates to the cancer research ecosystem in Canada.

 

The Canadian Cancer Society Lifetime Contribution Prize

This award recognizes an esteemed Canadian investigator whose contributions to cancer research extend beyond traditional research accomplishments and outputs.

 

The Canadian Cancer Society Robert L. Noble Prize

This esteemed award recognizes an outstanding Canadian investigator and their achievements in basic biomedical cancer research.

 

The Canadian Cancer Society O. Harold Warwick Prize

This esteemed award recognizes an outstanding Canadian investigator and their significant contributions to cancer control in Canada.

 

The Canadian Cancer Society Bernard and Francine Dorval Prize

This award is given to an outstanding early career investigator* whose basic biomedical cancer research contributions have the potential to lead to, or have already led to, improved understanding of cancer treatments and/or cures.

 

The Canadian Cancer Society William E. Rawls Prize 

This award is given to an outstanding early career investigator* whose research in cancer control research has the potential to lead to, or has already led to, important advances in cancer control.

 

*Note that CCS has temporarily extended the eligibility window for early career investigators for another year – with those who began their independent research career after December 31, 2009 being eligible for nomination.

 

Nominations for 2021 will be submitted via EGrAMS and the nominee must create their own nomination profile. Please view the full nomination guide here. Please read the guidelines carefully to ensure that nominations are submitted correctly by the deadline.

 

Nominees need not have held CCS funding to be eligible for an award, and Inclusive Excellence Prize nominees need not hold an academic research position.

 

CCS is committed to equity, diversity and inclusivity and strives to promote inclusive excellence in its research programs. We encourage nominees from a diversity of backgrounds and have structured the evaluation criteria to include consideration of circumstances which may have impacted the nominee’s academic career progression and research productivity.
