Call for expressions of interest: Case studies and prototypes for gendered design in STEAM

How to Apply:

Gender considerations, especially pertaining to women, are often overlooked and/or under-represented in technical, scientific, and design fields. Funding from this call will support researchers in LMICs to adopt and share research and design methods and practices that bring gender considerations to the development of technology-based solutions to improve lives and livelihoods for all, and particularly for women and other disadvantaged people.

This call will be of interest to LMIC researchers who are currently involved in the conceptualization, design, and/or production of technology-based solutions, applications, methods, and processes. They are invited to submit expressions of interest in one of two streams:

  • Stream 1: Case studies – 15 to 20 grants valued at CA$10,000 to CA$15,000
  • Stream 2: Case study + prototype – 10 grants valued at a maximum of CA$35,000

Expressions of interest must pertain to innovations linked to STEAM fields, with particular interest in the following sectors:

  • transport/mobility;
  • renewable energy;
  • manufacturing;
  • housing;
  • infrastructure; and
  • accessibility (cross-cutting).
