Trade Mark

According to the Trade-marks Act, the term "trade-mark" means a mark used by a person to distinguish his or her wares or services from others. Click here for a more detailed definition.

Subject to some restrictions contained in the Trade-marks Act, the registration of a trade-mark in respect of any wares or services gives to the owner of the trade-mark the exclusive right to the use throughout Canada of the trade-mark in respect of those wares or services.
