For Current Lakehead University Students
As a currently registered Lakehead University student, if you would like to request a change of program/major, Enrolment Services is here to help you!
If you are wishing to change your program/major to any other undergraduate program at Lakehead (excluding Engineering, Music, Nursing, Social Work or Visual Arts), you must:
- Submit a fully completed Change of Program/Major Application Form
- Form can be found on your myInfo account
- Pay the non-refundable Program Change Fee at:
- Enrolment Services (UC1007) or Student Central (Front Desk, Simcoe Hall)
- Office of Financial Services (a receipt is needed!).
Please note: If you are wishing to change your program/major to one of the following: Engineering, Music, Nursing, Social Work or Nursing, you must submit an application via the Lakehead University Undergraduate Application Form and follow application information for Returning Lakehead Students. This also includes Lakehead students that will be graduating and are interested in pursuing a new degree program.
Please ensure you check that you meet admission requirements including program specific prerequisite courses and are eligible for entry into the program you wish to transfer into. Please refer to the online Calendar for academic regulation information.
Before submitting a Change of Program/Major Application Form, it is recommended that you meet with a Faculty Advisor within the program you are wishing to transfer into to discuss academic plans and options.
Students interested in transferring into or within a program under the Faculty of Science & Environmental Studies or the Faculty of Business are required to meet with a Faculty Advisor within the program you are wishing to transfer into. Please bring your Change of Program/Major Application Form with you to the meeting for the Chair to indicate that they have met with you and to indicate whether or not they support your transfer into the program.
Program Change Fee:
In addition to the Change of Program/Major Application Form, a non-refundable Program Change fee (or receipt from the Office of Financial Services) must accompany your Change of Program/Major Application Form. A payment section is attached to the application.
The Program Change Fee is not required for students requesting to go from a Bachelors to an Honours Bachelor program in the same major only. (For example, if you are a in a Bachelor of Arts (English) requesting to change into an Honours Bachelor of Arts (English), the fee will be waived. The Program Change fee amount can be found in the Miscellaneous Fees section at Accounts Receivable.
Deadlines to Submit Change of Program/Major Application Form:
The deadline to submit a Change of Program/Major Application Form for a particular term is the last day to register for courses in that term.
