Teaching English Language Learners, Part 1

This course emphasizes the various aspects of the teaching of English as a second language such as:

  • Comprehension
  • Conversation
  • Pronunciation
  • Structure of the language
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Canadiana

It does so in the context of socio-cultural objectives including appreciation of the value of students' native cultural heritage; cultural and emotional adjustment to Canada; awareness of the cultural sensibilities of the different ethnic groupings in the ESL classroom; and knowledge of community resources available to non-English speaking students. The practical activities form an integral part of this course.
