The Faculty of Education provides educational programs designed for learners at every level, with innovative and highly successful programs at the Bachelor's, Master's, doctoral, and in-service levels.
We are embarking on exciting new Bachelor of Education programs, with Consecutive and Concurrent options that will provide excellent and up to date preparation for future teachers. Enhanced student teaching practice opportunities are a highlight of the new programs.
The Faculty has a longstanding commitment to Aboriginal Education, through the Department of Aboriginal Education, programs for Aboriginal teachers, mandatory Aboriginal coursework for all students, opportunities for student teaching placements in Aboriginal communities, continuing engagement with Aboriginal communities and organizations, and academic research conducted by Aboriginal faculty members.
The Faculty has just launched its new Education for Change field of study in the Master of Education program. With program specializations in Social Justice Education, Education and Sustainability, and Aboriginal Education, the Master of Education provides flexibility and multiple opportunities for learning. Students may complete all course offerings online.
Our dynamic faculty members have expertise in a broad range of educational areas, and have distinguished themselves nationally and internationally through their scholarship, with substantial amounts of external research funding to support faculty and graduate student research projects.
The Faculty’s Canada Research Chairs in Environmental Education and Arts-Integrated Education add to the depth of our scholarly engagement both within the academic setting and in the broader community.
