A Lakehead University graduate and life-long Thunder Bay resident, Kathy Pozihun's career echoes a passion for her home town and giving back to the community.

Kathy earned an Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 1992 (Accounting Major) before obtaining her Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified General Accountant designation in 1996.

Kathy’s 20+ year career has been in the public sector, beginning with Thunder Bay's Hogarth-Westmount Hospital before serving as Director of Finance, Systems, and Property at Community Living Thunder Bay (1996 to 2005). In 2005, Kathy moved to the Lakehead District School Board as Manager of Finance.  The next few years would see her quickly become the Board’s Senior Business Official (January 2007) prior to obtaining her Business Supervisory Officer credentials and being appointed Superintendent of Business and Treasurer of the Board in January 2008.

In 2012, Kathy was appointed Vice-President (Administration & Finance) at her alma mater, Lakehead University.  As the University’s Chief Financial Officer, Kathy aspires to ensure that Lakehead remains financially sustainable and poised for growth through the leadership of the administrative units including Human Resources, Finance Services, Information Technology, Physical Plant, Human Rights & Equity, Risk Management, Security Services, and Ancillary Operations.

Kathy is committed to life-long learning and is a graduate of the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management’s Ontario Supervisory Officer Executive Program, and the Senior University Administrators Course through the Centre of Higher Education Research and Development, University of Manitoba.  In September 2016, she was renewed for a second term as Lakehead’s Vice-President (Administration & Finance).

A strong proponent of personal development and family, Kathy is driven to succeed and contribute to the success of others. She is an avid runner, is passionate about fitness, and actively volunteers in her children's activities.
