The Office of Human Rights and Equity at Lakehead University is proud to support this year’s ITSTARTS campaign. The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is an opportunity to address the barriers faced by racialized members of our communities in accessing education, employment, housing, and healthcare. It is also an opportunity to acknowledge that an equitable, diverse, and inclusive society is one in which the human rights of all of the members of our communities are respected and realized, regardless of our race, religion, or place of origin. A diverse and inclusive society is one that values the contribution that multiculturalism has made to the Canadian mosaic. From the Indigenous peoples who haved lived on these territories for millennia, to the immigrants and refuges who have recently resettled on these lands, this month is an opportunity for all of us to embrace the values of diversity and inclusion in our communities. Please join us. It Starts here.
