Undergraduate & Graduate International Students

Every International and Exchange Student must be enrolled in the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP)All students should be enrolled for as long as they will be studying at Lakehead. Your UHIP card will be e-mailed to your Lakehead University e-mail address once you are enrolled.

The fee for this insurance plan will be automatically billed to your student account upon registration and is due with your first instalment. Current UHIP rates can be found at uhip.ca. If dependents are joining you (spouse or children), you are required to enroll them in UHIP as well.

Please email Christopher Gallinger at uhip@lakeheadu.ca if you have any questions.

Please note that you may log into your myInfo account at any time to view your charges and payments.  Click on the "Applicant" tab, look for "My Financial Profile", then select "View My Account".

While some Health Clinics in Thunder Bay (and elsewhere in Ontario) will directly charge your Insurance, in some cases, you may be required to pay upfront, or be invoiced. In that case, you will need to complete a claim form to either pay for the clinic's services, or receive a reimbursement. Please refer to the uhip tutorial on how to submit a UHIP claim.
