Studying at Lakehead University is not your typical university experience.

We offer exceptional and innovative English language programs throughout the year at both of our safe and supportive campuses located in the heart of Canada. Learning English at Lakehead is enriched with exciting thematic experiences that enhance that your language studies - all while you enjoy Canada's most famous attractions and the great outdoors.

Lakehead University's English Innovation Program starts with a base model that allows you to customize your experience: 

Base Model

  • 20 hours of English per week

  • Up to 15 hours of activities per week

  • Housing residence (or homestay when residence is not available). Click here for more information on Thunder Bay Residence

  • 3 meals per day

  • Free airport pick-up & drop-off service

  • Health Insurance

Program Options ('T' for Thunder Bay campus, 'O' for Orillia campus)

  • Business and Entrepreneurial Studies with emphasis on topics such as hospitality or tourism hotel and resort management (T, O)

  • Media Studies (O)

  • True North Adventure, Outdoor Recreation (T, O)

  • Arts and Culture: Indigenous Studies Stream (T) or Fine arts, Music Stream (O)

  • Science: Environmental Studies (T, O) or Criminology (O)

Choose Add-Ons (Optional; subject to regional offerings)

  • Toronto Experience Package (O)

  • Enhanced Thematic Activity Packages (T,O)

  • Add a Chaperone or Student (T,O) For every 15 students enroled, add one free chaperone OR one free student

  • Niagara Experience (O)

  • Niagara Adventure Package (T,O)

  • Add one week to the two-week program (T,O)

NOTE: Minimum IELTS score of 4.5; Minimum 10 students per session; Groups may be combined to meet minimum enrolment; Activities and transportation during free time is at your own expense; a non-refundable deposit is required.
