Event Overview:

  • STARTING POINT: Welcome Center / Cafeteria Building - Lakehead University, 500 University Ave, Orillia  (google map link)

  • Campus Tours daily from 9:30 am - 10:15 am and 2:30 pm – 3:15 pm

  • Residence Tours daily at 10:15 am, & 3:15 pm (15 minutes in length)

(please note all campus tours end in residence were the residence tour will then start)

  • Take a guided bus tour of the City of Orillia: Daily from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm

Our Applied Life Sciences program focuses on the study of living organisms at the bio-molecular, or cellular, level. This interdisciplinary program blends theories and practices from Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry and Physics with hands-on learning through laboratory courses, research opportunities and internships.

Anthropology’s focus is on people: how they live, what they say and do, and what they think. Anthropology’s interests (to name just a few) include the biological and cultural evolution of humans; the origins, prehistory, and history of human society; and the challenges facing traditional and modern groups in the face of globalization.  Interested? Wondering what you can do with a degree in Anthropology? We have a wide variety of programs. Business: Explore the opportunities of studying Global Entrepreneurship and Business Administration at Lakehead. Develop your knowledge and skills in marketing, finance, human resources, accounting, strategy, operations, information technology, and communications. Our business programs strike a balance between theoretical and practical studies.

Why Criminology? The gradual transformation in the nature of crimes and criminals has increased our interest for studying the discipline of criminology. Many tools and techniques have been invented for dealing with the crimes and criminals  throughout the world which are examined in the discipline of criminology. Attend this session to learn more about Lakehead’s Criminology program.

Jump aboard the bus and travel downtown to our Heritage Place campus – home of the Faculty of Education's Professional Program.  Tour the facilities and see where you'll learn about teaching children from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Leaving from Simcoe Hall at 11:00 am daily.

Could not make the Education Program Showcase session and the bus running from the main University Ave campus to the Heritage Place campus downtown but still want to check it out?   No worries - travel down to the Heritage Place for a brief tour of the home to our Faculty of Education's Professional Program.  Please drop in between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm Tuesday, March 14 through to Friday, March 17.  Please note - parking at the downtown campus is user pay and a free parking is not available  For details and parking lot locations, click here. What Is Interdisciplinary Studies?
This presentation will discuss the benefits of an interdisciplinary undergraduate education and how it equips students with a broad range of critical thinking skills and problem-solving strategies of practical value in today’s society. The specific features of the various programs offered by the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies will be highlighted, with particular emphasis placed on the use of Inquiry courses that adopt a problem-based learning approach to address issues of social importance.

      This presentation will give information about the structure and value of the program, including plans for a photography production concentration (in collaboration with Georgian College) and for international exchange with a British Media Studies program that could be ready as early as the fall of 2017.
