1. The President, upon authorization of the Board if it is a new position, will establish and chair a Search Committee with representation from the Board. The President may engage an external consultant to assist in the search process.
2. For existing positions the President will inform the Board of the establishment of a Search Committee and seek representation from the Board.
3. After receipt of the recommendations of the Search Committee, the President shall recommend to the Board either:
-the appointment of one of the candidates; or
-that none of the candidates be appointed.
The terms of reference for the Search Committee are as follows:
-To review the qualifications required on the advertisement and position description for a Vice-President.
-To review the applications, based on the above, to reject those not qualified, and to prepare a short list so that letters of reference can be requested.
-Following receipt of letters of reference, to prepare a short list of candidates to be interviewed by the Search Committee and presented to the University community.
-To establish the interview process and presentation schedule.
-To seek input from the University community on those candidates who have been interviewed.
-To recommend to the President all candidates who are acceptable to the Committee.
