It is my privilege to welcome you as a new member of our faculty.
Lakehead Orillia offers students from Simcoe County and beyond a wide range of degree programs – some of which are unique to the Orillia campus, such as Criminology and Media Studies.
Faculty members located on the Orillia campus will experience many of the advantages of a small campus within the context of Lakehead University. Faculty members located on the Thunder Bay campus may find themselves teaching courses that include Orillia students, working with Orillia based associates on service initiatives or spending time on the Orillia campus. Faculty colleagues on both campuses benefit from partnering on research initiatives that draw on the unique resources and expertise found in both places.
These are some of the truly powerful features of “one university, two campuses”.
Increasingly, our students are seeking programs that offer the rigours of an academic program in combination with experiential learning opportunities. Through our Lakehead University-Georgian College Partnership, we currently offer four degree-diploma programs: Environmental Sustainability, Electrical Engineering, Applied Life Sciences, and Computer Science. We continue to develop degree and pathway programs that offer students a dual credential reflective of the best of both worlds.
I hope to have an occasion soon to meet you and to learn more about your teaching and research interests.
All the very best for the coming academic year!
