There are specific criteria that designates if the employee will be categorized in the CUPE union.
- If the employee is a student,
- If the employee's wages are being paid out of an operating budget, and
- If the employee's job duties include "demonstrating, tutoring or marking or as research or teaching assistants, save and except sessional lecturers, persons with the rank of lecturer or above"
If your employee and position fits these 3 criteria, then they are considered in the CUPE union and will be paid according to Schedule A of the CUPE Collective Agreement.
