The Department of Electrical Engineering at Lakehead University invites applications for three tenure track appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor. These positions are at the Lakehead University-Georgian College (LU-GC) partnership program, Barrie, Ontario.  These positions will commence on August 1, 2020.

 While the Department encourages all eligible applicants with an earned PhD or close to completion by August 1, 2020 in Electrical and Computer Engineering or closely related disciplines to apply for these positions, its needs in research strengths are in areas of Electrical Engineering such as Communications; Digital Systems including advanced computer architectures and embedded systems; Autonomous Systems including intelligent systems; Power Systems and Smart Grid; Circuit design including VLSI; Biomedical robotics and instrumentation. Relevant industrial and practical experience will be an asset. Flexibility in undergraduate teaching of a diversity of courses is expected in the new program at Barrie. Graduate program extension between the Barrie and Thunder Bay campus is planned with live, interactive video conferencing of graduate course offerings from both ends.

The Department offers a unique accredited Bachelor of Engineering program at its Thunder Bay campus as well as a Masters by thesis, course work and a Ph.D. program. At Barrie, in partnership with Georgian College, a new program in Electrical Engineering started in 2017.


Acquiring Professional Engineering registration in a province of Canada is a mandatory condition for employment in this position.
