The Lakehead University Datalab is seeking a Software Developer to become part of the Learning Outcome Gap Analysis team. The ideal candidate will create and maintain software related to an ONCAT funded project that analyzes the gaps between Post-Secondary learning outcomes with emphasis on design and use to create highly reliable and robust applications. Work requires skills specializing in developing, programming, analyzing, testing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting existing and new software throughout the products' life cycle.
This part time position is 20 hours per week and requires that you are available online or in person for 3 days a week. Duties include independent and team software/system development and support of both internal and external stakeholder solutions. This position requires frequent self-directed work and the ability to prioritize tasks and projects. This employee must demonstrate ingenuity and adaptability in an environment with rapidly changing technical and business requirements while maintaining enthusiasm and using sound practices.
A Computer Programmer diploma and/or undergraduate degree in Computer Science is required with a minimum of two years in software development, Masters degree preferred. The incumbent has demonstrated technical competency and knowledge of a full technology stack including: Python, Flask, Natural Language Processing libraries, PHP, Laravel, Bootstrap, web development, Amazon Web Services and Framework development. Additionally, the incumbent will be able to apply a standard software development cycle and has experience with Agile online workspace applications including git, Slack and Asana.
