Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources at the Thunder Bay campus, the Human Resources Partner is responsible for day to day generalist human resources activities at the Orillia campus including, labour relations, occupational health and safety, recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, HRIS, and training and development. Further, this person is the direct contact for Orillia employees, providing both consultation and support as needed. The Partner works closely with a variety of stakeholders to support the provision of a student centred environment that provides “a transformative university experience that is far from ordinary”.

The successful candidate has completed post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related discipline. Completion of a CHRL designation is preferred, along with three to five years’ of professional Human Resources experience in an advisory role. Experience in an academic setting is an asset.

The successful candidate also possesses strong knowledge of applicable legislation including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and Employment Standards Act.  With a focus on customer service, the incumbent has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong coaching, mediation and conflict resolution skills, as well as an ability to work independently without close supervision in a demanding, fast paced environment.
