 $28.72 – $36.08 per hour

Full-Time OPSEU Position

Lakehead University has an opportunity within the Technology Service Centre. Reporting to the Manager, Server, Desktop and Client Services, the successful candidate will provide technical support to both the Thunder Bay and Orillia Campus. The primary responsibilities will include Apple support with a demonstrable knowledge in OSX/iOS, remote support and updating with ARD and deployment abilities with Deploy Studio, or similar software. ACMT certification, along with bash scripting and related Windows certifications will be an asset. Responsibilities also include configuring and maintaining computer systems for student labs, faculty and staff while troubleshooting hardware and software issues. The incumbent will be required to install and maintain current versions of campus software, support and maintain Print and Document Management systems (Xerox/PaperCut), Integrate proximity/swipe card technologies with current hardware devices utilizing existing network/server architecture and administer the financial transaction database server. Additional responsibilities include responding to incident reporting through the Technology Service Centre ticketing system while prioritizing, addressing and following up on tickets.

The successful candidate will possess, at minimum, a computer related post-secondary education and 2 years of related experience, ideally in an education or public sector setting. They will demonstrate a supportive approach, and excellent customer-service and interpersonal skills.  The Technician will be proficient in troubleshooting and resolving technical problems, have the ability to communicate technical information to clients, and be knowledgeable in Windows and Apple operating software. They will be a self-starter with ability to work well independently and in a team and will possess basic networking skills. They are committed to continuous learning, respect confidentiality, adhere to department practices and industry standards, and enjoy providing quality service to a variety of customers with varying levels of knowledge and comfort with computers. Shift work may be required to provide evening & weekend coverage.
