Method of Delivery: This course is being offered as a web-based course. Please note that the successful candidate must possess the ability to teach using an online learning platform, although assistance will be made available via the Office of Continuing Education and Distributed Learning.
Course Description: An introductory exploration of current cancer care modalities and concepts, designed to meet the needs of students in health programs and professionals working in northern, rural and remote communities. Theories and principles underlying community cancer care focus on epidemiology, research, health care policy, primary health care and ethical challenges. The role of the health care professional will be discussed as it relates to providing community-based cancer care across the lifespan.
Preferred Qualifications: Expertise, background and experience in basic concepts, issues and current trends in Gerontology. Previous teaching of the respective course is considered an asset. Post-graduate degree in a discipline related to gerontology and the ability to teach gerontology from an interdisciplinary perspective
