The International Research Facilitator is responsible for seeking opportunities to expand international research partnerships and collaborations on behalf of Lakehead University faculty and graduate students.  The International Research Facilitator will also provide the senior leadership team with guidance and advice on identification and preparation of international collaborative grant proposals (ie., ERA-Can+, NIH, NSF, Fullbright, MITACs Globalink, etc.).  The candidate will also: facilitate the development of individual, multidisciplinary and multi-institutional international research initiatives and joint funding applications; perform background research, writing and substantive editing of proposals; support the Faculty of Graduate Studies with the recruitment of international graduate students; support Lakehead International expand opportunities for Lakehead University to undertake research exchanges abroad; and organize joint international workshops and events.  The International Research Facilitator provides administrative support to the Canada-Mexico Consortium and liaises with Lakehead’s International Committee on a regular basis.  The position reports to the Director, Office of Research Services at Lakehead University.

The ideal candidate will have a Masters degree (PhD would be an added asset) in a relevant field that is complemented by 5 years of related experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment.   Your interest in global issues, interpersonal, writing and communication skills will allow you to develop and convey the University’s research expertise to international partners and funding agencies confidently.  Expertise in coaching, mentoring and delivering professional development workshops is expected.  Knowledge of international research protocols and grantwriting is a definite asset.  A full job description may be requested by contacting the Office of Human Resources.
