LIBRARY TECHNICIAN – SERVICES (International Students)

Permanent, full-time

As the Library Technician - Services, you will provide excellent customer service through consistent application of library procedures. Providing direct service and acting as the primary point of contact to our clients, you will be responsible for assisting our patrons and encouraging an environment that is positive and helpful. You will also perform service planning and delivery to our patrons, with a particular focus in the assistance and delivery to patrons and members who have been identified as a specialized group, including International, Indigenous, mature, and racialized students. Outreach services shall be conducted taking into consideration unique needs and requirements, and from time to time, you may be required to provide additional training and orientation to co-workers regarding service delivery to a diverse patron group.

In addition to meeting our patrons' service delivery needs, the successful incumbent will maintain patron records, process and upload identification card photos, work with patrons for the return of items, including lost or overdue resources, maintain records related to our library collection (lost items) and make recommendations on replacement decisions. As part of our successful team, you will be required to provide support for other Library Technicians at our various locations.

Candidates must possess a library technician diploma at minimum and a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Other qualifications include:

Familiar and proficient with computers and in Automated Library Information Systems such as Voyager;

Advanced internet and online database search skills;

Effective reference interviewing and research skills;

Experience with all MS Office software, Google Drive, Windows;

Effective communication skills;

Demonstrated customer service skills;

Good organizational qualities;

Experience working with diverse community members is preferred.
